There was no live drama this time. No failed ports. No improvised spacewalk. MSC-003 - KOEING's R-SLS2 carrying pilot Jedidiah Kerman, engineer Huddin Kerman, and scientist Katdorf Kerman - launched, reached orbit, rendezvoused with the new LSI 1 station, and docked. The whole sequence went according to the flight plan. At mission control, people apparently clapped, which in the context of this program counts as a quiet moment.
Huddin Kerman was the first kerbal to step aboard LSI 1, performing a checkout of the station's systems before the rest of the crew followed. The science module - one of two modules launched with the station core aboard Starship Heavy 4 - was activated by mission scientist Katdorf Kerman within hours of boarding. Experiments are now underway, the details of which NASA has not disclosed.
The crew will remain aboard LSI 1 for the foreseeable future, a period NASA describes as "until the next module is ready to launch," at which point they will assist docking operations from the station side. MSC now has a functioning orbital station and three kerbals living in it. This is, it should be said, what the program was always supposed to be doing.

Valentina Kerman stepped onto the Mun's surface at 14:07 mission time, becoming the first kerbal to walk on another body. TRANQUIL - KOEING's L-SLS3+ carrying Commander Kerman, engineer Huddin Kerman, and scientist Katdorf Kerman - touched down in the Sea of Tranquility after a descent NASA described as textbook. The landing site was selected for terrain flatness and communications line-of-sight with LKO relay infrastructure.
Huddin Kerman, the engineer who was first to board LSI 1 and second to perform an EVA in program history, remained aboard the descent stage during surface operations. Katdorf Kerman conducted the surface science package - sample collection, regolith analysis, and a seismic charge deployment whose results are pending. The crew spent approximately four hours on the surface before ascending to Mun orbit and trans-Kerbin injection.
The mission was the culmination of the MunShot program: an uncrewed Mun orbital test in Era 4, the MARE crewed orbital flight earlier in Era 5, and now a landing. Zero crew lost. NASA Administrator Wernhardt Clane issued a statement that read, in full: "We went. We landed. We came home. That is the standard." The Herald notes that this is the shortest official statement in MSC history.
MERIDIAN - the second Mun landing, carrying Jedidiah Kerman, Dosos Kerman, and Wildock Kerman - followed within the same era. Both crews returned safely. The Mun is no longer a destination. It is a place kerbals have been twice.

When LLS-2's ascent engine failed on the Mun, three kerbals were stranded with no way home. NASA launched a rescue mission. All crew returned safely. Zero crew lost holds.
The LLS-2 ascent failure was the closest the MSC program has come to losing a crew. During the Mun ascent phase, the ascent engine on the lander stage underperformed, leaving the crew unable to achieve Mun orbit. Three kerbals were on the surface of the Mun with a vehicle that could not bring them home. Mission control declared a contingency. The program's Zero Crew Lost constraint - the line nobody crosses - was in jeopardy for the first time.
RETRIEVAL was assembled and launched within the contingency window. The rescue vehicle - using a proven L-SLS3+ stack - reached Mun orbit, rendezvoused with the stranded crew's ascent stage (which had achieved a suborbital trajectory on residual thrust), and recovered all three kerbals. The return to Kerbin was nominal. All crew survived. Zero crew lost held.
The Herald pressed NASA on the ascent engine anomaly. Administrator Clane confirmed the failure mode, confirmed the corrective actions, and declined to identify the crew by name in the public statement, citing medical privacy. The crew has since returned to active rotation. The Herald notes: this is the mission the program will be remembered for. Not the landing. The rescue.

The LIMINAL mission passed a probe through the Juno anomaly and confirmed it as a traversable wormhole to another star system. Administrator Clane called it "the largest redefinition of operational scope since the program began."
The object NASA declined to name three times is a wormhole. The LIMINAL mission - two sequential probe transits through the Juno anomaly, designated Passage 1 and Passage 2 - confirmed that the body first noted during SOLARCOM relay geometry development is a traversable bridge to another star system. KeedMartin Skunkworks built the probes. The data is classified at a level the Herald has not previously encountered in MSC reporting.
Administrator Clane's confirmation was characteristically measured: "Juno is a traversable wormhole. The LIMINAL transits were successful. The implications for program scope are significant. We are assessing them." Pressed on what "significant" meant, Clane said: "We were building infrastructure for a solar system. It turns out we were building it for a galaxy."
The Herald notes that SOLARCOM - the relay network this newspaper repeatedly asked NASA to explain - was built before the program had any deep-space assets to relay. It now relays to LIMINAL probe telemetry. The infrastructure framing was not a deflection. It was a timeline. The KOEING/KeedMartin KLS flagship completed two crewed flights and two LSI dockings. The SSTO programme that was supposed to replace it did not. Ludcan Kerman was grounded with it.
The KLS flagship - a KOEING/KeedMartin joint programme - completed two crewed flights to LSI and two successful dockings. The vehicle represents the program's first second-generation crewed platform and the first major KOEING/KeedMartin collaboration since the station module contracts. The flagship performed within parameters. This is, again, the point.
The X-1/X-2 SSTO programme did not perform within parameters. Both vehicles failed to achieve stable single-stage-to-orbit flight. The programme has been grounded. Ludcan Kerman, the programme's lead test pilot, has been grounded with it - not by disciplinary action, but because there is no vehicle for him to fly. The Herald understands this to mean the SSTO programme is suspended indefinitely.
NASA has not commented on the SSTO grounding beyond a brief procedural statement. The KLS flagship is now the program's primary crewed vehicle for LKO operations. The Herald's assessment: the program bet on two paths. One worked. The other did not. The pilot who flew the one that did not is now waiting for a vehicle that may not come. The Training Era delivered LSI 2 - a 12-kerbal-capacity second-generation lunar orbital station with a science lab and hydroponics - and L-HABSCI-1, the first permanent Mun surface base. Melody assembled it remotely. Most of the launches failed. The base stands.
Administrator Clane retroactively renamed Era 8 "The Training Era." The Herald understands why: it was the era where the program stopped flying headlines and started building infrastructure. LSI 2 - the second-generation lunar orbital station - was constructed with a 12-kerbal capacity, an onboard science lab, and hydroponics modules. Eight crew now maintain it. The station also serves as the HESTIA communications relay, a function NASA did not publicly emphasize during construction.
FOUNDATION was harder. L-HABSCI-1, the first permanent Mun base, required twelve launches. Eight failed. Four modules reached the surface. Melody - operating remotely, we presume from mission control - assembled the base from those four modules. The Herald has not been permitted to identify which specific modules failed or why. We have submitted a request. We expect a PDF.
REPOSE was the first crewed landing at L-HABSCI-1. Valentina Kerman, Huddin Kerman, and Samsey Kerman descended to the base. NASA described the descent as "the most challenging entry in program history." The Herald's sources describe it as the scariest event the program has experienced, including DRIFTING. All three crew landed safely. The base was activated. ROV-1 - the Kerbalmouse rover - was deployed from it.
HESTIA was revealed in sectional testing during this era. The Herald reported on it then. We are reporting on it now. It is the vehicle currently in Duna orbit. The sectional testing was, in retrospect, preparation for the most ambitious mission in the program's history.

After TENDING and MUSTER launched the full crew of eight, HESTIA departed Kerbin orbit, completed a 58-day transit, and arrived at Duna. First crewed interplanetary arrival in program history. Zero crew lost has never been tested this far from home.
HESTIA departed Kerbin orbit on mission AWAY, marking the first interplanetary departure in MSC history. The vehicle carries eight crew: Commander Valentina Kerman, helmsman Guillermo Kerman, engineer Huddin Kerman, mission specialist Melody Kerman (also assigned to VESTA), medical officer Gwenford Kerman, scientist Katdorf Kerman, and crew members Samsey Kerman and Dosos Kerman. The transit to Duna was projected at 58 days. HESTIA has completed the transit and is now in Duna orbit. The first crewed interplanetary arrival in program history.
The departure was preceded by a sequence of missions that this newspaper must list in order, because the order is the story. TRANSMISSION decommissioned L-HABSCI-1 and the crew aborted safely. FALSE HORIZON attempted retrieval and failed due to an LOS pod fault. ENCORE saw KOEING volunteer an R-SLS3+ for a retrieval attempt; the vehicle turned back safely. THRESHOLD succeeded - the LOS functioned, and the LSI 2 crew came home. ANCHOR launched HESTIA and VESTA to LKO uncrewed. OVERTURE was the Unity maiden flight; the vehicle was lost in the largest explosion in program history. REPRISE flew Unity 2 and stood down for crew. HANDOFF, CASCADE, and AEGIS were BelugaX failures - stage separation, engine cascade, heatshield decouple. METEOR was BelugaX-4's full success and ocean recovery. HEARTH was OTS-2: the first crewed HESTIA boarding, via Confidence. OFFERING was OTS-3: Huddin Kerman performed an EVA into a falling shuttle cargo bay.

TENDING was HESTIA Crew Launch 1 - R-SLS5+, carrying Valentina, Dosos, Huddin, and Gwenford. MUSTER was HESTIA Crew Launch 2 - OTS-5, bringing the remaining four aboard. All eight kerbals are now in Duna orbit. LSI 2, with its eight crew, serves as the HESTIA communications relay. Sixteen kerbals are now involved in this mission. Eight are beyond any rescue window the program can currently achieve.
HESTIA's propulsion system remains classified. The Herald has reported on KIA interest in the design, on an Aurora working file, and on allegations regarding a programme designated X-9 AURORA. NASA has not confirmed or denied any of these. We publish what we can verify. What we can verify is this: eight kerbals are in Duna orbit. They arrived after a 58-day transit.

Huddin Kerman performed an EVA during OTS-3 into a shuttle cargo bay that was descending through atmosphere. NASA called it "mission-necessary." The Herald is asking what mission necessitated it.
During OTS-3 - mission designation OFFERING - Huddin Kerman performed an extravehicular activity into a shuttle cargo bay that was descending through Kerbin atmosphere. The Herald has been unable to obtain the full footage. NASA has described the EVA as "mission-necessary" and has declined to specify the mission necessity.
This is the program's third EVA. The first was Valentina Kerman's inspection of the Basic Station airlock. The second was Huddin Kerman's deployment of the RESTLESS solar arrays. The third was this - an engineer stepping into a cargo bay during atmospheric descent. The Herald does not have enough information to assess the risk profile. We have enough information to say it was high.
Huddin Kerman is currently aboard HESTIA, in Duna orbit. She is beyond follow-up. The Herald has submitted a records request for the OFFERING EVA and expects a response after the crew returns, which is not soon.

HANDOFF, CASCADE, and AEGIS failed in sequence - stage separation, engine cascade, heatshield decouple. METEOR, the fourth flight, succeeded. HESTIA crew launched on its back.
The BelugaX programme had three failures before it had one success. HANDOFF failed at stage separation. CASCADE failed in an engine cascade - multiple engines, sequential failure, vehicle loss. AEGIS failed at heatshield decouple - the heatshield separated from the vehicle at a point in flight where heatshield attachment is the entire job. Three vehicles. Three distinct failure modes. Zero crew on any of them, because all three were uncrewed.
METEOR - BelugaX-4 - flew clean. Full mission profile. Ocean recovery. The vehicle performed within parameters across every phase. NASA then approved crew launch on the BelugaX platform. TENDING and MUSTER - the two HESTIA crew launches - both used the BelugaX-derived OTS system. Both succeeded.
The Herald's assessment: the program accepted a vehicle with a 25% success rate for crewed operations after one clean flight. This is either confidence in corrective engineering or a schedule pressure the program has not disclosed. We have asked. We have received a PDF that contains the words "extensive recertification" and "corrective action plan" and very little else. We will continue to press.
